Remember contractors that were hard to find during the boom are looking for work and ready to negotiate price.
Does the property have supplied utilities? Do you have to drill your own well? Do you have to have a septic system? What building permits do you need?
This is just the beginning, quite a task. So many questions.
Do yor proceed or do you just put your property up for sale and purchase and existing home? The decision is up to you.
Whichever way you decide to go you should have a home inspection. If you are building, have a home inspection before the foundation is poured. The foundation is very important.
A second inspection before they close in the walls, once those walls are closed in you will never know what is behind them. One additional time is suggested before you sign the final papers.
If you are purchasing an existing home it is recommended to have a home inspection to make sure you are getting exactly what you are paying for. No surprises after you move in. This can be a point of negotiation. Please remember there is no perfect home, some repairs can be inexpensive others costly. If you are buying a home find out the last time the septic was pumped and have it checked
