Think Before You Pour It, Pitch It, Flush It

July 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

We leave our Footprints everywhere we go…by Carl Winters, Advanced Home Inspectors, License #3630 (TREC).

Every household creates hazardous waste whether you realize it or not. (HHW) is one of the biggest environmental concerns we face. If you flush it down the toilet or sink it can create problems underground and possibly get into the groundwater water system. HHW can get caught up in the runoff during a rain (which we have had very little of lately in Comal Comal County Texas). That runoff will end up in our creeks, streams and eventually the rivers in our basin.

If you have a septic system, remember what goes down your drain will eventually go into your septic system – you need to be careful not to put household cleaners and solvents down your drain.

We leave our footprints all over the place with items you find under your kitchen sink and in your garage from household cleaners to lawn products.

Always be mindful of how you dispose of your products. Each county has a website that will give you specific information on how and where to dispose these products.

We serve Bexar and Surrounding Counties – Comal, Kendall, Blanco, Hays, Guadalupe

magnifyTwo important tips for spring clean up.

  • Clean leaves from your roof gutters. Always show caution when climbing a roof.
  • Clean leaves from flower beds close to the foundation to assure water will “drain away from the foundation.

Two reasons for this is to keep water away from your foundation. By following these two very easy task each spring and fall can save you from having foundation damage that could be quite costly.
